Jonathan Coulton & Paul and Storm Live!

March 7th, 2009

What a concert last night! I don’t know that I’ve ever had that much fun at a show before.

To begin with, the Ark in Ann Arbor, MI is a pretty nice little venue. Small and intimate, but it still held 400 people last night. The reserved seats I snagged were excellent. We were dead-center stage, about 5 rows back and elevated. It was quite a perfect view.

Now I hadn’t really listened to Paul and Storm prior to last night. Well, they now have a new fan. That duo is something else. They’re a great combination on song and lots tons of humor. I mean… Nun Fight? Does it get any better?! The “If” songs were spot on.

The main event, Jonathan Coulton was excellent! I got to hear all my favorites. He was taking requests via Twitter, so I had to ask for Creepy Doll. Love it!

I can only hope they both come back to town again… Sooner rather than later.

Sony Releases New Stupid Piece Of Shit That Doesn’t Fucking Work

Well that was unfortunate.

February 24th, 2009

What a weekend. My wife treated me to an excellent dinner at the Gravity Bar & Grill in Milford for my birthday. We then proceeded to go to the Dirty Martini in Novi to meet some friends. What a joke. I’m no big bar fan, much less clubs. Sunday start out quietly too. I took care of laundry, had some breakfast at the now defunct Cruisin’ Cafe, put on my new license plate, and finished staining some trim in the basement. The problems started after dinner at my parents’ house. As soon as we finished eating dinner I started feeling sick. It was completely out of the blue. My wife and I barely made it home without me tossing my guts out in the car. The next 6 hours or so were spent evenly between throwing up in the bathroom and curled up in the lazy boy in agony. Didn’t get to sleep until about 2am Monday.

Waking up on Monday, I didn’t really feel much better. At least I was able keep some food down though. I did however feel nauseous all fucking day. Tuesday has been the turning point. Around noon I really started feeling considerably better… a complete change of course.

This is the second time I’ve gotten sick in the last 6 months. I never get sick. WTF?!

Busy Week

February 13th, 2009

Haven’t really had much time to do anything this week. All my out-of-town colleagues were in town for a bit of a celebration. Time to recap.

Monday was just a busy day at work.

Tuesday I went to the Secretary of State to renew my tags and drivers license.

Wednesday was Bastone with co-workers. Their Dubble Vision is really good.

Thursday was dinner and drinks in and around Greektown. That was a good time! Between the beer and Long Islands, I got home at 2am and was back to work at 7am this morning. Pain. Though I did opt to take a half-day to come back home and sleep. Played some WoW for a while and am almost to 56.

Tonight? More beer with some of my wife’s friends.

Extreme Measures

February 7th, 2009

So I just finished another audio book while driving home yesterday. Extreme Measures by Vince Flynn is a hell of a trip. I didn’t want to stop listening which is always a good sign. It’s an excellent counter-terrorism suspense thriller.

My father gave it to me for Christmas after I told him I’ve been listening to audio books a lot while driving to work. The forty-five minutes to and from work has been getting put to good use. Audible is the best. I had previously been going through the works of Ian Flemming and Tom Clancy. Now I need to add Vince Flynn.

And lucky me… It looks like Audible has some of Flynn’s prior works. I think I’ll have to start with Consent to Kill, as it appears to be the first of his books that Audible has in an unabridged format.
